Summertime

Birthday Girl

I just realized today that I haven't posted any updates since February. I'm awful at these things... 


MJ is busy growing up. She turned three before we knew it. About six months before her big day she decided she wanted a Hello Kitty birthday party. She never waived from this decision until about 3 days before her birthday (and well after every thing had been purchased). Her best friend, Niko, had a Spiderman party and MJ wanted to follow suit. I think her overall disappointment of Hello Kitty party was waylaid but the gigantic chocolate cake and tons of presents. But, she already has her mind set on the theme for birthday number 4!

Everything goes by so fast... MJ moved up in classes at her Montessori school. As of May she is officially a preschooler. And, she's learning so much! Just this week, she's wowed us by counting (mostly) to 100. Her favorite phrase is "What the heck?!!?" She loves to make up songs to serenade us with in the car. She's also perfecting "the look" and won't hesitate to deploy it on you if she thinks you're being unnecessarily silly. 

Beautiful Ballerina

Spring semester came and went. I did well in my classes and have had a break from school all summer. We've just been playing and enjoying the hot weather (especially since we still don't have proper a/c). MJ has had swimming lessons and graduated from "Tadpole" to "Guppy". She's currently in ballet class. The first couple of weeks I had to bribe her into going, but she now enjoys her time there and will gladly show off her arabesque, plies, and leaps. 


Our summer landscaping plans have been overridden by more fun activities every weekend. Thanks to my mom, we were fortunate enough to be able to go the a Rockies game. MJ loved that she was allowed to stay up late and watch fireworks. We've been on a couple hikes, to tons of parks, and to the museum of nature and science about 100 times. I have only a month left before I'm back in school, so we're planning on going camping, visit the zoo, and venture down to Colorado Springs in August.
